Hi - I just had a similar problem with a J-D #7 backhoe. The hose was stretching too tight and being rubbed on the thru-bolt for the rotation cylinder on the right side. Left hose was in a similar condition at very low hours. J-D picked up most of the cost of new hoses and labour. The original zip ties were keeping slack from being pulled, making the hoses too tight. Hi John, I have a #7 backhoe on a 770, and it works great ! It is of course like any machine, you have to learn how to get the most out of it - use the bucket curl to best advantage, etc, but once you have about 20-30 hours, you'll be doing compound movements without having to think about it. It took me about that long to get what I call "good", though others might say I'm still pretty much a beginner. While you are on level ground, practise reaching up, raising the loader, and using the hoe to move the tractor, as this is the way to dig a trench in a hurry. It is a good idea to practise this, as keeping the bucket in the trench can keep you from any wild rides when you are not on the level.

Hi - I've done a lot of snow plowing using the loader and a rear blade on my J-D 770 MFWD with turfs, and have not been in a spot where I couldn't get out of. Have done the sane with a vintage J-D and rear blade, and found the ag tires just don't have enough ground contact.

Hi - not sure what brand we're talking about here, but I have a J-D 770 with standard, and you're correct about selecting gear for speed, then staying in it matching ground speed with required pto speed. Takes a couple of mows to get the right combo, but essentially very simple. No need to clutch on turns unless clearance is too tight for the speed. Mine has a live pto - meaning the clutch pressed about 1/2 way down will stop the tractor, but the pto continues to run. at this point you can reverse or change gear and not affect mower speed. any other questions, feel free to e-mail.
